On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to extend my appreciation to all our employees for producing yet another year of solid results for Morneau Shepell.
The Board is very pleased by the Company’s continuing evolution as a leading wellbeing power brand, its accelerating growth in the U.S., and continued strength in Canada where Morneau Shepell is headquartered. Notably, the acquisition of LifeWorks during the year was a strategic accomplishment. It increased the Company’s scale and scope, provided geographic diversification to its revenues and client base in the U.S. and U.K., and added significant technological capabilities and innovation via its cloud-based HR platform and user application.
In March 2018, the Board adopted a Diversity Policy and set a target of maintaining at least 30 per cent women and30 per cent men on the Board. In support of this commitment, Morneau Shepell’s Board is proud to be a member of the 30 per cent Club Canada. Today more than 40 per cent of the Board are women or racial or ethnic minorities. Currently, women comprise 33 per cent of executive leadership team roles.
In 2018, the Board welcomed Kish Kapoor to the Board. Mr. Kapoor, a chartered professional accountant and former tax partner with KPMG, is a highly regarded Canadian-based entrepreneur and Board member in the financial services sector.
Looking ahead, the Board has confidence in the Company’s leadership team for continuing to move Morneau Shepell forward as a leader in the human resources sector.
In closing, on behalf of the Board, I’d like to thank our shareholders, clients, employees and partners for their support in 2018.
Gillian (Jill) Denham
Chair of the Board
